This Health AI Startup Just Doubled Its Valuation

A startup called Heidi Health just raised $340 million, and its valuation nearly doubled to $900 million in the process. That is a big number for a company most people outside healthcare have never heard of.

Heidi builds what it calls an AI Care Partner. In plain terms, it listens in on a doctor’s appointment and writes up the clinical notes afterward, the referral letters, the paperwork that usually eats into a doctor’s evening. Founded in Melbourne, the company says its revenue went from about $1 million a year to $50 million in roughly two years.

The round breaks down into two pieces, $100 million in a Series C led by Blackbird, and $240 million in growth funding from General Catalyst. Existing backers came back for more too, which usually means the numbers inside the company are holding up under scrutiny.

What stands out to me is the adoption number. Heidi says about 62 percent of the health systems it works with have actually turned the tool on and kept using it. Healthcare is famously slow to adopt new software, doctors do not have patience for tools that add friction to an already exhausting day. An enterprise activation rate over 60 percent means the thing is actually getting used, not just bought and shelved.

This is the version of AI in medicine I find easiest to root for. Nobody is asking a model to diagnose your illness or replace your doctor. It is doing the unglamorous part, typing up notes, so the person who actually knows you gets a few more minutes back in their day. If that is what AI keeps getting better at in healthcare, more of this money finding its way to companies like Heidi is a good sign, not a worrying one.
