Anthropic Just Became the Fastest-Growing Company in Software History

Anthropic hit $47 billion in annualized revenue. That is not a typo. And it happened in seventeen months.

A year ago, the company was doing $1 billion. Then Claude Code shipped. Fifty-four percent of the AI coding market is now Claude. Enterprises are running Claude on Anthropic’s servers instead of plugging their data into the public web. The math works: more revenue, lower cost per customer, profitable margins by Q2 2026.

The scale is hard to land. By year-end, Anthropic will out-earn every public software company in the world except Microsoft. Think about that. Not in ten years. This year.

This changes the venture math entirely. The fastest-growing company ever is not a startup anymore. It is a vendor. And it is profitable.

The reason this matters beyond spreadsheets is what it signals about the market. AI tooling is not speculative. People want to pay for it. Enterprises are shipping it into production. And the revenue scales faster than the compute costs, which means the best product wins now, not eventually.
