Anthropic just did something small that actually matters. They took Claude Cowork, the tool built for handing off bigger, longer jobs, and folded it straight into regular Claude chat. No more picking a mode before you even start typing.

If you have used Claude at all, you know the moment. You open the app and there is a fork in the road. Do I just ask a question, or do I hand this off as a task and go do something else. Most people guessed wrong half the time and had to start over in the other window, which is a small annoyance that adds up fast when you use the thing every day.

Now Claude figures that out for you. You type into one box. It reads what you are asking, checks the tools and connectors you already have set up, and decides on its own whether to answer right there or go run the actual job in the background. Nobody has to know the difference between chat mode and task mode anymore. That difference was always more of an org chart problem inside Anthropic than a real problem for the person typing.

Alongside the merge, Anthropic is rolling out two new pieces. Claude Docs is a shared document you and Claude can both edit and leave comments on. Claude Slides is a presentation builder that exports straight to PowerPoint or PDF. And the Claude Design tool, which used to live off on its own as a separate product, is now just sitting there inside every conversation.

Pro and Max subscribers get all of this first, on web, desktop, and mobile, over the coming weeks. Free and Team users are next in line after that.

None of this is flashy. There is no new model behind it, no bigger brain. But it is the kind of unglamorous fix that actually changes how a tool feels day to day, and those add up more than people give them credit for. Every AI company right now wants to be the one app you open instead of five separate ones. Anthropic just took a real step toward that instead of only talking about it.
