Anthropic Is Chasing a Bigger IPO Than SpaceX’s Record

Anthropic just told investors it wants an IPO the size of SpaceX’s, or bigger. That is not a modest ask. SpaceX raised about eighty six billion dollars once the over allotment kicked in. Anthropic is reportedly aiming to match that or beat it, with a market debut that could land as early as October.

The company has already filed a confidential draft registration with the SEC. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan are working the deal, and Anthropic is said to be weighing super voting shares so Dario Amodei keeps control after the company goes public. That is the same move a lot of founders make when they want the cash without giving up the wheel.

What makes this one worth watching is the timing. Anthropic posted a net loss near forty two billion dollars in 2025, mostly from the sheer cost of running compute at this scale. But its revenue run rate hit sixty five billion by late July, and the business is starting to look less like a science project and more like a company that can pay its own bills.

A trillion dollar plus AI company going public matters for more than just Anthropic. It gives regular people a way to actually own a piece of this instead of watching from the sidelines while venture funds soak up all the upside. It also puts real public scrutiny on the numbers, which this industry could use more of.

Nothing here is locked in yet. Size, timing, and structure can all still shift before any paperwork goes public. But if this happens the way it is being described, it will be one of the biggest debuts in market history, AI or otherwise.
