AWS just committed to deploying more than 1 million NVIDIA GPUs across its regions starting in 2026. The number is almost incomprehensible. For context: that is more GPU compute than existed in most of the world five years ago, sitting in AWS data centers.
The move is not abstract infrastructure planning. Amazon announced a $200 billion capex for 2026, the largest spend in company history, and a massive chunk of that goes to custom chips, data centers, and this GPU fleet.
At the AWS Summit in New York, they also shipped updates to Bedrock AgentCore. Managed Knowledge Base for RAG. Web Search for agents. The message is clear: AWS is building the infrastructure layer that every company building agents will sit on top of.
This is the bet that AI is not finished discovering what it is, but the infrastructure it needs is becoming clear. Agents need memory, context, tools, search. Bedrock needs the right features. And all of it needs to run somewhere.
The scale here is different from the scale two years ago. This is not a startup race anymore. This is a utility being built.
